STS2.0-BIO Biobanking for rhabdomyosarcoma and non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue tumours in children, adolescents, and young adults: Storage and biomaterial data
Disease rhabdomyosarcoma and non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue tumours
Type Biobanking
Rationale / Objectives

Prospectively collect biomaterial of all newly diagnosed patients (children, adolescents, and young adults) with soft tissue tumours with the following aims:

  • Collect biomaterial to gain comprehensive information about the molecular background and incidence of different types of soft tissue tumours as a rare disease
  • Identify valid prognostic and predictive molecular markers and targets for effective therapy options
  • Provide a tissue repository for additional research projectsCreate a database for the reassessment of the present therapy stratification system and find new risk factors by the linkage of biological information to long-term outcome
  • Create a database for the reassessment of the present therapy stratification system and find new risk factors by the linkage of biological information to long-term outcome
Inclusion Criteria
  • Pathologically and molecularly proven diagnosis of a soft tissue sarcoma or tumor (centrally reviewed), written informed consent for biomaterial sampling, data collection and linkage to clinical data.
Recruitment ca. 150/year

Participants For paediatric and adolescent oncology, all centres fulfilling the G-BA-defined criteria in Germany (n=60) are expected to contribute, allowing for a rather population-based coverage for patients under 18 years. The total number of participating centres in Germany is estimated to be roughly 60. STS 2.0-BIO is open for future storage of European/international samples.
