In many children and teenagers with cancer, some of the body fluids mentioned above (such as blood or cerebrovascular fluid) are also analysed to detect or rule out.

• insufficient response of the cancer cells during treatment
• remaining cancer cells after cessation of treatment ("minimal residual disease")
• recurrent disease (relapse)
• hereditary diseases associated with an increased risk of developing cancer
